Schmeichel expects Chelsea to meet Al-Ahly in World final.

Ex-Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel expects Chelsea to win the World Club Cup, beating Al-Ahly in the final.

Al-Ahly will be playing against Corinthians this morning at 10:30, with Brazilian team Corinthians the bookmakers favourite to win the match. Schmeichel disagrees, saying: “I’m not surprised about Ahly’s victory over Hiroshima to qualify for the semi-finals of the World Club Cup. I was expecting that because the Egyptian team has a great reputation in the tournament,

“The chances of Al-Ahly and Corinthians are equal, although I think the preference would be in favour of the Africa champion because of their experience of playing in the previous three World Club Cups and got third place in 2006.

“I personally expect that Ahly and Chelsea will be in the final but then the Londoners will be the closest to winning the title, as usual for European clubs.”

I expect it to be a close match between Al-Ahly and Corinthians, with the Brazilians taking the plaudits. Their class should prevail. I firmly expect Chelsea to dominate Mexican side Monterrey on Thursday morning, and for us to go onto win the title. You can follow all the action on BBC HD. Could any of these teams challenge Chelsea for the title of World champions?
