Chelsea's John Terry sends out a message.

John Terry sent out a message to Chelsea fans everywhere, by wearing Roberto Di Matteo’s shirt number while training before yesterdays Manchester City game.

The defender, currently sidelined with a knee injury, took to the Chelsea pitch to train with the club’s fitness staff wearing a gold jersey sporting the No 16, the number Di Matteo wore in his playing days for Italy and Chelsea alike.

The interim manager would have been hoping that the club Captain at least would of sided with him, in favour of the club. If the Spaniard is to turn the clubs fortunes around, he will need to gain the backing of the players, starting with the key influences in the dressing room, such as John Terry, Petr Cech, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole.

Rumours of a bust-up with senior players Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole will not have helped.

Rafa Benitez told the press that Frank and Ashley could leave in the coming summer, and the players reportedly reacted angrily, confronting the Spaniard.

Benitez is adamant that he will get the fans onside, but there will be no chance of that happening without the backing of the players. Benitez has a lot of work to do…

The man Rafa should have been tactical on the issue(s) concerning the duo (Lamp & Ashy). Rafa knows the Jose faithfuls and would want to do away with them as quickly as possible. Remember Materrazzi at Inter? How would he win the fans whose hearts are not with as displayed against MC? He has no shame as he is now attacking his former employer. It won’t surprise me if he attacks the Russian when they part ways.
