Ancelotti wants Frank Lampard to join him at PSG

The brilliant Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has been an excellent servant to the Blues over the years, but now that Andre Villas-Boas has demoted him to a bit-part player there are numerous rumours that Lampard could move on to regain regular first team action.

Carlo Ancelotti must feel like he has won at the progressive jackpot slots as he now has an unlimited budget at the new super-rich Paris St Germain, and it is being reported that he now wants Lampard to to be the lynchpin of his midfield.

Ancelotti was (unfairly in my opinion) sacked by Roman Abramovich last summer but he saw enough of the talent that Lampard brought to Chelsea’s team, and he has no problem with bringing in ageing stars and helping them to extend their careers. Lampard still has the fitness and the hunger to carry on playing at the top for many years with or without Ancelotti’s talented medical team.

There is no doubt that Lampard has always been very loyal to Chelsea, and has even come off the bench to win a few games for the Blues this season, but he has also said that he wants to play the full 90 minutes in every game, something that Villas-Boas refuses to guarantee.

With Abramovich and Villas-Boas trying to build a new young team, I could easily see them letting Lampard move on if he so desires, but could Frank leave his friends and family in London to try a new challenge at this stage of his career?

With his recent “injury” I could very well see him walk. With the possibly severity, who knows a) how long it will be until he’s able to come back and b) if he will ever really be able to play at the same level. Surely only time will tell but for right now, I think AVB will get his chance (without grief from Lamps or any other player) to showcase some of the younger talent. They might be smarting now for the end of the McEachran/Swasea loan.
