As the footballing season comes to an end all over first-tier leagues around Europe, it will be followed by transfers. And while that goes on, loanees too will have a share of it, but they might either return to their parent clubs, or remain with their present clubs after a loan extension is agreed. The club with the most loaned-out players, Chelsea F.C will also be making an assessment of over 25 players they sent on loan this term. And it seems the fate of one of them has been decided.

Young Croatia international, 20 year-old Mario Pasalic on loan at La Liga outfit, Elche will be headed back to the Stamford bridge once the season is wrapped up. And he will be signing a new deal, which is likely to send him out on another loan. An example of such is the Oriol Romeu’s story. The former Barcelona B player returned from a loan at Valencia and signed another 3-year contract with Chelsea, only to be loaned out to Bundesliga side, Stuttgart within 3 weeks of his return.

Mario Pasalic joined Chelsea during the middle of last year from his home club, Hajduk Split, and was loaned out to the La Liga 2 weeks after. But the club has kept constant contact with the midfielder. He attests to this,

“I am often in touch with [Chelsea’s technical director] Michael Emenalo, he keeps calling me. They send me videos of my games with hints and suggestions of what to fix in the game and how.”

He chose a Spain move ahead of Netherlands’ Ajax, and has gone to develop himself at what he calls the best league in the world. Mario has become a regular at the financially-strained Elche since the start of the year, and has gone ahead to make 30 Liga appearances for the club, scoring 3 goals in his last 5 starts for the club while playing in a deep-lying role in midfield.
