Premier League champions Chelsea are reportedly preparing a stunning £50m bid to prise away highly rated Everton and England defender John Stones according to news outlet Daily Express.

The Stamford Bridge outfit was involved in a protracted transfer saga last summer after Everton insisted their player was not for sale thus rejecting numerous bids for him from the champions.

With Stones also linked with other heavyweight clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona, Chelsea are ready to steal a march on them by making a big push for the 21-year old.

It is believed that a mammoth bid in the region of £50m for the former Barnsley star would be enough to force Merseyside club Everton’s hand to sell the much-coveted defender.

Some reports claim the £50m bid has been made and accepted by Everton while some other reports claim Chelsea will make the said bid this week but that Everton are sure to accept the bid.

All in all, it appears Chelsea will end the window with having signed John Stones after the last summer’s saga. His signing will be a big boost to Chelsea.

He will fight it out with Cahill, Zouma and John Terry for a regular playing time but the fact that he can play as a right back is an added advantage.
